Mariani Landscape Restores, Refreshes Garden for Infant Welfare Society House; 2011 Fundraiser Scheduled April 30-May 21, Lake Forest, Ill.

Lake Bluff, IL (PRWEB) April 15, 2011

For more than 20 years, Mariani Landscape (http://www.marianilandscape.com) ?a premier residential and commercial landscape design, installation and maintenance firm?has supported the bi-annual Lake Forest Showcase Home & Garden fundraiser for Infant Welfare Society of Chicago (http://www.infantwelfaresociety.org). Mariani is partnering with Infant Welfare again this year, creating and donating a garden for the Thorndale Manor estate.

?We value Infant Welfare?s mission: to provide quality, community-based health care to under- and uninsured women and children who otherwise couldn?t afford it,? says Frank Mariani, chief executive officer of Mariani Landscape. ?It?s an honor to help this organization celebrate 100 years of caring.?

?Our theme this year is simple elegance,? explains Mariani Landscape Architect Carrie Woleben-Meade, ASLA, LEED AP, who designed the garden. ?This certainly fits Thorndale Manor, which was built in 1916.

?The west terrace is wrapped by a balustrade and has grand views of a stunning oak savanna,? she says. ?We restored the space and introduced stone lattice work to the panel in the middle of the lawn?a nod to the whimsical patterns found on the interior floors of the residence. Then we flanked this panel with two parterre garden spaces, each filled with lush spring flowers. The terrace itself was softened with groupings of urns filled with plants selected for form, foliage and texture.?

Thorndale Manor will be open to the public from April 30 to May 21. For more information on the home and gardens, and to purchase tickets, go to http://www.lakeforestshowhouse.com.

Luxury Retailer J.W. Cooper Supports Fundraiser for Japan Earthquake Victims

Miami, FL (PRWEB) May 27, 2011

In an effort to support reconstruction of the areas affected by the recent East Japan earthquake, J.W. Cooper, renowned purveyor of the most unusual, one-of-a-kind collectible artistic carvings and accessories for men and women, is participating in a silent charity auction to be held in Tokyo, Japan. The niche retailer, which has had a long-time presence in the luxury accessory market in Asia, is proud to support the event with a theme of "Cheer Up JAPAN~TACHIAGARE (Rise Up)!"

?J.W. Cooper has had a presence in Japan for about five years now and when International Trading Corp. approached me about this event, I didn't hesitate," says Todd Rauchwerger, CEO of J.W. Cooper. The donated item is a four-piece sterling silver buckle set and lizard belt, an item that is consistent with the tastes of the silent auction participants.

The three International Trading Corp. stores that carry J.W. Cooper items have done so because of the quality workmanship and unique design each piece features. "They've picked a clean array of sets that go with the contemporary look of their culture," says Rauchwerger.

The event, organized by the Intercontinental Trading Corp. Cigar Club Division, will take place on May 27th, 2011 from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Hacienda del Cielo Daikanyama restaurant.
